Argentina's Energy Balance Accounted for 34% of November's Positive Trade Balance

Buenos Aires, XX December (NA) — According to a private study, the positive trade balance for November was 34% explained by the positive energy balance of US$858 million. The president of the Argentine Institute of Fiscal Analysis (IARAF), Nadin Argañaraz, pointed out that the energy sector has contributed an extra US$2.061 billion so far this year compared to 2024, increasing from US$4.850 billion to US$6.911 billion. The energy balance was positive by US$858 million in November. 'The main contribution of dollars came from higher exports of US$1.352 billion and lower imports of US$709 million,' he stated. Analyzing the variation in the energy dollar balance for November, Argañaraz indicated that the price effect caused a decrease of US$74 million. Meanwhile, the volume effect generated a positive surplus of US$405 million. So far this year, the volume effect has been positive at US$2.579 billion. 'From the combination of a positive volume effect and a negative price effect, the net positive effect of US$2.061 billion arose,' explained Argañaraz. Savings of US$587 million were achieved due to lower prices for imported energy, and US$122 million were saved from a lower volume of energy imports.
